Kelly, 1895, also lists 4th Volunteer Battalion South Wales Borderers (H & I Companies.)
According to Kelly, 1914, 'The 3rd Battalion Territorial Force Monmouthshire Regiment have their head quarters ... at the Drill Hall, Baker street.'
The drill hall is in use (2005) as a bed and bedroom furniture sales room. The current tenant describes the building as having a shooting range underneath the ground floor and a large room at first floor level, which local people remember using for dances.
Some of the bricks outside the door were carved with graffiti by servicemen who used the drill hall in the Second World War. Their names are still visible.
